The Secret Garden Murders by J. R. Ellis Book Cover
This character guide covers arcs across the whole book and may contain spoilers.

This is a police procedural cast with a deep bench: DCI Jim Oldroyd anchors the investigation, backed by his detectives and forensic colleagues, while a wide circle of suspects, blackmail victims, hall staff, teachers and family members keeps the village feeling tangled. The murder of Clarissa Morden sets everything in motion, but the focus stays on the people drawn into it.

On this page you will find each character's role in the story, a short description, and notes on their arcs and relationships, from Oldroyd's team and Clarissa's targets to the relatives and colleagues hovering around the case.
