Copyright, Quotations & Takedown Policy

1. Who We Are

insta.page is operated by Leanback AS, a company registered in Norway. We publish book summaries, key takeaways, mindmaps and related study material.

We take the rights of authors and publishers seriously. If you are a rightsholder and something on this site concerns you, please write to post@insta.page. This inbox is monitored every day and reaches the founder directly. You do not need a lawyer, a court order, or a formal DMCA notice to get our attention — a plain email is enough.

2. What We Publish

The material on insta.page consists of:

• Our own writing. Summaries, key takeaways, chapter analysis, mindmaps, themes and discussion questions are original works created by us. They express the substance and ideas of a book in our own words. Facts and ideas are not protected by copyright; the particular expression is, and we do not reproduce it.
• Limited quotations. Some pages include a small number of short verbatim quotations from the book, each accompanied by our own commentary explaining who said it, the situation it appears in, and why it matters.
• Bibliographic details. Title, author name and a low-resolution cover thumbnail, used to identify the work being discussed.

We do not publish, host, sell or distribute copies of any book, in whole or in substantial part. We do not reproduce entire chapters. Our pages are intended to help readers decide what to read and to reflect on books they have already read — not to replace the book.

3. Ownership of Quoted Material

• All quotations remain the copyright of their respective authors, publishers and other rightsholders. No ownership of quoted text is claimed by Leanback AS.
• Every quotation is published alongside the title and author of the work it comes from.
• Cover images are the property of their respective publishers or cover artists, and are reproduced at low resolution solely to identify the work under discussion.
• Book titles, author names, series names and publisher names are used for identification and commentary only. Any trademarks remain the property of their owners.
• Nothing on this site implies that an author, publisher or rightsholder endorses, sponsors, has reviewed or is affiliated with insta.page.

4. The Basis for Our Use of Quotations

We rely on the right of quotation and comparable exceptions for criticism, review and illustration, including:

• Norway: the right of quotation in section 29 of the Copyright Act (åndsverkloven), which permits quotation from a published work in accordance with proper usage (god skikk) and to the extent required by the purpose.
• European Union: Article 5(3)(d) of Directive 2001/29/EC, permitting quotation for purposes such as criticism or review, with the source and the author’s name indicated.
• United States: the fair use doctrine, 17 U.S.C. § 107.

In practice, we hold ourselves to the following limits:

• Quotations are few in number and short, and are drawn from across the work rather than concentrated in one passage.
• We do not quote a whole work, a substantial part of one, or a passage whose reproduction would give away the essence of the work.
• Every quotation is accompanied by our own commentary, and serves that commentary rather than standing alone as a collection of extracts.
• We name the author and the source work in every case.
• We link to where the book can be bought, so our pages support sales of the work rather than substituting for it.

If you believe we have exceeded these limits on any page, we would rather hear about it and fix it than argue about it. See section 6.

5. Accuracy and Attribution

We treat accurate quotation as an obligation to the author, not just to the reader. Quotations published on insta.page are checked against the source text before publication, and we do not present paraphrase as though it were a direct quotation.

If we have misquoted a passage, attributed words to the wrong person, or quoted something in a way that distorts its meaning, please tell us. We regard that as a serious error and will correct it promptly, independently of any question of copyright. Authors have a right to be correctly credited and to have their work presented without distortion, including under section 5 of the Norwegian Copyright Act.

6. Requesting a Correction or Removal

If you are an author, publisher, agent or other rightsholder and you want material changed or taken down, email post@insta.page with “Copyright” in the subject line. To help us act quickly, please include:

• Your name and contact details.
• The work concerned (title and author), and your relationship to it — for example rightsholder, or agent acting on their behalf.
• The full URL of each page concerned.
• What you are asking us to do: remove specific quotations, reduce their number or length, remove the cover image, correct an attribution, or remove the page entirely.
• A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised, if you are alleging infringement.

Our commitment in response:

• We will acknowledge your email within 2 business days.
• Where a request is well founded — or where we are simply in any doubt — we will remove or amend the material within 5 business days, and confirm to you when it is done.
• We will not insist on a formal legal notice, and we will not require you to establish that our use is unlawful before we act. If an author or publisher does not want their book represented here, that is reason enough for us.
• Where we think a narrower change would address your concern — for instance trimming quotations rather than deleting a page of original commentary — we will propose it, but the decision is yours.

7. Other Requests from Authors and Publishers

You do not need to allege infringement to ask us for something. We are also happy to hear from you if you would like us to:

• Correct a factual error in a summary, or a misattributed quotation.
• Update or replace a cover image, or add an official purchase or author link.
• Exclude a specific book, or your entire catalogue, from the site and from future additions.
• Discuss licensed or authorised use of your material.

8. Reinstatement

If we have removed material in response to a notice and you believe the removal was mistaken — for example because the notice came from someone without authority over the work — write to us at post@insta.page explaining the position, and we will review the decision.

9. Notices Sent in Bad Faith

We act on takedown requests readily and without demanding proof, which depends on those requests being made honestly. We reserve the right to decline to act on, and to disregard future notices from, anyone who repeatedly submits requests for works they have no rights in or otherwise misuses this process.

10. Governing Law

This policy is governed by Norwegian law. Any dispute arising from it will be heard by the courts of Sandnes, Norway. Nothing in this policy limits any right you have as a rightsholder under applicable law, and nothing in it is an admission regarding the lawfulness of any particular use.
