The Housewife Characters

The protagonist, born Joanne and sister of Deborah. She serves time for manslaughter, changes her name to Jodie Smith, dyes her hair, and marries Roy Davies under false pretenses to investigate her sister's death. She is house-proud and capable of cold violence, but also craves friendship and connection.

Arc: She moves from trying to gather proof that Roy killed Deborah to taking violent revenge: she shoots Marie, frames Roy, and testifies against him. After Roy's conviction she starts a catering business with Dolores and builds a new life. When Detective Bates later uncovers her old hit-and-run, he destroys the evidence, and she chooses not to poison him.

A wealthy psychologist and self-help author, first married to Deborah and later to Jodie. He presents himself as a grieving widower but is controlling and gaslighting, keeps his office and safe locked, records patient sessions, and had an affair with Veronica. He also locked Deborah up and interrogated her in a recorded video.

Arc: Roy's public persona collapses as Jodie investigates him and Marie's crimes surface. He is arrested, tried for three murders, convicted of Deborah's and Marie's murders, and sentenced to life without parole.

Arc: Marie appears to become Jodie's ally and fellow truth-seeker, but Deborah's hidden letter exposes her lies. She puts on Deborah's wedding dress, attacks Jodie, confesses, and is shot in the face by Jodie.

Arc: Erin begins as a sympathetic new acquaintance, then is exposed as Vee and becomes a threat to Jodie. Her accidental death triggers the police investigation into Veronica Greenwood.
