Of Karma and Corridors Book Club Questions
by Sloane St. James

These questions assume everyone has finished the book and contain spoilers, including the ending.
Of Karma and Corridors gives book clubs plenty to argue about because it keeps blurring the lines between protection, obsession, and intimacy. The characters make choices that are easy to judge from the outside but harder to untangle once you consider their histories, fears, and the secrets they keep from each other.
Use these questions to spark honest, sometimes messy conversation. You can work through them in order, pick the ones that hit hardest for your group, or let one question lead into another. There are no right answers here, just good reasons to listen to how other readers saw the same moments.
Trust, Surveillance, and Secrets
- 1.Casper hides an AirTag in Anna's glove compartment and later plants a tracker in her purse after she destroys the car trackers; how does that history shape your view of his 'ethical surveillance' when Logan and Thor accuse him of stalking and hiding in her walls?
- 2.Casper listens to Anna's therapy session and watches her change from the hidden corridor, while Logan and Thor later call that behavior stalking; where do you draw the line between his claimed protection and violation, and did any scene make you reconsider that line?
- 3.During the lightning storm Anna sees a shadow person in her mirror and calls Casper, not knowing he is hiding nearby and has just replaced the block over the mirror; how does that scene reframe the comfort he offered her earlier in the apartment?
- 4.Casper unlocks Anna's phone with her thumb after she falls asleep and sends himself evidence of Steve's threats, while Anna has been hiding the blackmail from him; whose betrayal felt more damaging in that moment, and can either be justified by concern?
- 5.When Anna finds the hidden corridor, the empty chair, and the pie receipt dated to her rooftop night with Casper, how did that discovery recontextualize his rooftop confession that he lied about being sober and his near-kiss on the suspended platform?
- 6.Casper confesses that he tracked Anna's car, broke into her apartment, hid under her bed, escaped through a hidden hallway, and watched her until he fell for her, and Anna replies that she loves that version of him too before asking him to move in; did you agree with her choice, and is that reconciliation healing or a boundary problem?
Risk, Recovery, and Autonomy
- 7.Anna tells Joan that predictability is a security blanket after a life where chaos nearly destroyed her, yet she agrees to skydive with Casper and later enters the corn maze with him; what makes those risks different from the risk of relapse, and did you read them as growth or recklessness?
- 8.When Steve demands five thousand dollars a week and threatens to send Anna's old images to everyone at Kucera Housing, including Rhys, Anna tries to handle it alone; did you agree with her choice to keep the blackmail from Rhys and Casper, and what does that secrecy reveal about her shame and autonomy?
- 9.Casper arranges the corn maze exhibition with Eric and Brandi so Anna can watch, and afterward Anna tells him she cannot do a one-night stand and likes him a lot; did that scene feel like trust and intimacy or like Casper manipulating her vulnerability?
- 10.At the NA meeting Anna says she is grieving something she thought was good and misses someone she should not, and Denise tells her that missing them is not the same as going back; how did that framing affect your view of Anna's eventual return to Casper?
Violence, Revenge, and Accountability
- 11.Casper designs the moth cover-up over Anna's MINE scar and explains moths as creatures of metamorphosis that know darkness but fly toward light; how does the tattoo mean something different for Anna's healing than for Casper's fixation on revenge?
- 12.After Anna tells Casper about Steve carving MINE into her back, he says he loves that version of her, but later interrogates Steve, carves KARMA into him, and forces skin ribbons into his mouth; does knowing Casper's motive change how you judge that violence?
- 13.Rhys punches Casper and then agrees to provide him an alibi after learning about Anna's blackmail, the video, and the men Casper tracked down; did you agree with Rhys's decision, and was it consistent with his earlier protectiveness about Anna's sobriety and social life?
- 14.At the abandoned motel Anna finds Steve tied to a chair, bloodied and missing most of his teeth, while Casper stands there in a diving suit and wolf mask and refuses to explain; what should Anna have done in that moment, and was fleeing the right choice?
Home, Healing, and Boundaries
- 15.Anna gives Casper a 'Home' doormat, discovers his blanket fort, hears how he hid in closets as a child and lived in his car, and later renovates his house; how does that home-making theme complicate or excuse his need to watch and control her space?
