A Court of Frost and Starlight Book Club Questions
by Sarah J. Maas

These questions assume everyone has finished the book and contain spoilers, including the ending.
This book may be a quieter installment, but that is exactly what makes it great for discussion. It slows down enough to sit with hurt, family tension, politics, and the small choices that reveal who these characters are becoming.
Use these questions however your group likes. Pick a few to start, follow the tangents, or split into smaller chats. There are no right answers here, only plenty to argue about, and the mix of tender moments and unresolved tensions gives everyone something to latch onto.
Art, Trauma, and Healing
- 1.Feyre paints herself as the beast from the Ouroboros in Polina's abandoned studio and hides it from everyone, but later gives Rhys a painting of that inner creature as a Solstice gift. What does her urge to hide it and then share it reveal about her relationship to her trauma and to Rhys?
- 2.Nesta cannot stand the crack and pop of a fire because it sounds like breaking bones and a snapping neck, and she feels nothing sitting in her locked apartment. How does the book use Nesta's trauma to explain her isolation, and does it change how you read her earlier refusals?
- 3.Feyre buys the Void tapestry with its silver thread called Hope and later keeps it in her studio as a reminder to work through loss and create. How does the weaver's statement 'I have to create, or it was all for nothing' connect to Feyre's own painting, her secret studio, and her decision to teach free art classes?
- 4.Amren tells Elain there is no going back to being human, and Elain goes still when Azriel approaches her with the dish before dinner. How do those small moments show the different ways Elain is grieving her human life and Graysen, and how do the others fail or succeed in supporting her?
Family, Boundaries, and Hard Choices
- 5.After Nesta refuses to come to Solstice and says she has her own life, Feyre offers to deliver her rent money if she comes. Did you agree with Feyre using the rent as leverage, and how does Nesta's final acceptance of the banker's note complicate that exchange?
- 6.Cassian follows Nesta to the gate with a Solstice present, grabs her hand, and after she walks away hurls the gift into the Sidra hard enough to crack the ice. What does this scene show about Cassian's expectations and Nesta's numbness, and did you sympathize more with one of them?
- 7.Elain tells Feyre she does not want a mate or a male, while Lucien says he cannot stand to be near her and calls his household with Jurian and Vassa the Band of Exiles. Do you think Feyre and Mor should stay out of the Lucien-Elain situation, as Mor advises, or intervene?
Power, Loyalty, and Unresolved Conflict
- 8.Rhys and Azriel deliberately withhold the full extent of the Illyrian dissent from Cassian until after Solstice. Was that protective or patronizing, especially given Cassian's own history and his mission to train female Illyrians?
- 9.In the Hewn City, Mor freezes when Eris speaks and remembers being wounded and left in the Autumn Court woods, while Keir watches with satisfaction. How does that throne-room scene reshape Mor's refusal to hide from Keir, and did you agree with her decision not to speak?
- 10.Rhys visits Tamlin in the ruined Spring Court manor, baits him, then returns to skin and cook the elk and tells him to eat, while insisting it is not forgiveness. Did you agree with Rhys helping Tamlin for the sake of the border, even though he cannot forgive him for his mother and sister?
- 11.Cassian buys out Emerie's winter gear, notices her clipped wings, and tells her to credit the High Lord rather than himself; Emerie refuses charity and takes the delivery task. How does that encounter tie Illyrian tradition, Cassian's rage, and the 'storm to come' at the chapter's end?
Identity, Wealth, and Home
- 12.Feyre asks Ressina to be her business partner in Polina's studio after Polina's family gives her the deed and key and refuses her money. What does that decision say about Feyre's guilt over wealth, her identity beyond High Lady, and the Suriel's request to leave the world better?
- 13.Rhys reveals his mother made all of Feyre's gowns as a trousseau for his future bride, and Feyre changes her palm tattoos to the Night Court insignia before asking to try for a child. What do those choices say about Feyre's sense of home and future, and how do they answer Rhys's earlier fear that happiness must be paid for?
The Ending and What Comes Next
- 14.At the end, Feyre feels excitement to wake every day and Rhys says they will face whatever lies ahead together, while Mor rides away from the watching darkness and hears 'Go. Go.' Do you read the ending as hopeful, ominous, or both, and which unresolved threads—Nesta, Keir and Eris, the Illyrian dissent, Tamlin, or Bryaxis—do you most want followed next?
