The Keeper Book Club Questions
by Ana Huang

These questions assume everyone has finished the book and contain spoilers, including the ending.
The Keeper works well for book club because it pairs a steamy, high tension romance with messy questions about parenting, privacy, money, and forgiveness. The characters make choices you can argue about, and even the quieter domestic moments carry emotional stakes, so there is plenty to unpack without everyone agreeing.
Use these questions to guide conversation, not to march through the book in order. Pick a topic that fits your group's mood, let people disagree, and save room for the moments that surprised you. You can also ask everyone to bring one scene they would defend and one they would rewrite.
Characters, Boundaries, and Communication
- 1.Noah fires Hazel for entering his bedroom even though Evie implied it was okay. Did Noah overreact, or was he right to enforce the contract and his privacy? How does this incident set up the boundaries theme that follows him and Carina?
- 2.Carina accepts the nanny job only on the condition that Noah communicate with words instead of grunts and scowls. How does that condition shape their relationship, and where does Noah most clearly fail or succeed at honoring it?
- 3.Noah admits to Carina that he feels he has not done enough as a father and credits Tabitha with the heavy lifting. How does Carina's reassurance that Evie adores him affect Noah, and did his parental insecurity feel believable given his protectiveness throughout the book?
- 4.After the Boulders Beach video goes viral and the Andersons file for sole custody, Noah shuts Carina out and says talking is what got them into this mess. Did you agree with Carina's choice to stay with Scarlett and Asher for space, and what made their reconciliation feel earned or not?
Family, Money, and Custody
- 5.Carina drains her Antarctica savings to pay fifteen thousand pounds toward her parents' roof repairs. What does this reveal about her sense of filial piety and financial sacrifice, and did you agree with her choice to take the nanny job partly because of that drain on her savings?
- 6.Noah first refuses to hire Carina because of unresolved feelings from Budapest, then changes course after seeing how quickly Evie bonds with her. Was Evie's comfort a legitimate reason to hire Carina, or was Noah using his daughter to avoid admitting his own attraction?
- 7.The Andersons arrive asking for shared custody and later file for sole custody, citing Noah's celebrity lifestyle and nanny turnover. How persuasive did their stability argument seem before the revelation about Sarah and Cordon, and did your view of them change afterward?
- 8.The Andersons reveal that Oswald secretly had Sarah's Cordon acceptance rescinded, which drove her away. How does that confession reframe the custody fight, and do Elizabeth and Oswald earn any redemption by agreeing to the alternate custody arrangement and helping scrub Evie's tabloid photos?
Romance, Jealousy, and Schemes
- 9.Carina proposes a kiss in the alley to get their tension out of their systems, and Noah later calls it a monumental lapse of judgment. Did you believe one kiss could resolve their tension, and how does the contract's no-romance clause make their subsequent lounge encounter more complicated?
- 10.After hearing that Carina is going to Samson's party as his date, Noah announces he is bringing a date too and then asks Adil to arrange Whitney through Konnect. Did Noah's jealousy and escalating lie feel believable, and what did you think of how Whitney was treated?
- 11.Carina kisses Samson to prove she is over Noah, and Samson later stages a suggestive whisper and exit to provoke Noah. Was Carina fair to Samson and Whitney in this plan, or did the scheme make it harder to sympathize with her?
Parenting, Independence, and Resolution
- 12.Evie freezes after slipping during her piano recital, and Noah lets her see it through on her own while Carina whispers encouragement from the audience. Did Noah make the right call in that moment, and how does Evie's later wedding performance of A Thousand Years change how you read the recital disaster?
- 13.Evie tells Noah he should not quit football for her because parents and children should have separate full lives. Did you agree with her advice, and how does it complicate Noah's earlier belief that stepping back from football would make him a better father?
- 14.Noah proposes to Carina at the Adélie penguin colony in Antarctica after waiting sixteen months, and four years later he retires from Blackcastle with Carina pregnant and Evie catching the runaway Truffle. Did the proposal feel earned by their journey, and how well did Carina's tour-guide calling and Noah's decision to stay in London resolve their arcs?
