Reaper's Wrath Book Club Questions
by Jill Ramsower

These questions assume everyone has finished the book and contain spoilers, including the ending.
Reaper's Wrath gives book clubs plenty to wrestle with: arranged marriage, mistaken identity, captivity, memory, revenge, and the uneasy line between devotion and control. The story moves fast, but its moral questions linger, especially when characters justify questionable choices in the name of love or protection.
Use these questions to spark honest conversation rather than easy agreement. Pick a few that fit your group's pace, take turns reading them aloud, and let people disagree. You can discuss the whole list in one session or split it across two meetings, depending on how deep you want to go.
Isa's Choices and Agency
- 1.Isa volunteers for the arranged marriage to Mazzi because she believes romance was never part of her plans and wants the alliance while preserving her money and freedom. How did you view that choice before Elio re-enters her life, and did you agree with her decision to go through with the wedding?
- 2.At the bridal boutique Isa thinks she sees DiAngelo peeking through the dressing-room curtain, then later DiAngelo compliments her in a brotherly way and leaves her confused. How does that misunderstanding create tension between Isa’s attraction and her loyalty to Terina?
- 3.Isa reveals that her scars come from the car accident that killed Ario and required an emergency hysterectomy. How does that revelation change your understanding of her arranged marriage, her feelings for Elio, and her fear that his fantasy of their past might not be real?
- 4.Isa tells Elio that “his Isa does not exist,” yet the crash restores her memories of Ario, the pregnancy, and her secret relationship with Elio. Did you interpret her lost memories as trauma protecting her or as a real division between the Isa who knew Elio and the Isa who chose Mazzi?
Elio's Identity, Deception, and Violence
- 5.Elio considers using his identical-twin resemblance to DiAngelo because Isa would trust her longtime friend and go anywhere with him. How does that deception shape the bridal-boutique peeping scene and the church escape, and did it make Elio seem more calculating or more desperate?
- 6.Elio tells Isa, “I took you because you’re mine,” and later has Cruz tattoo a karambit on her neck while she sleeps. How did you respond to Elio’s possession language and the tattoo—did it read as romantic devotion, coercion, or both?
- 7.Elio’s flashbacks show him kidnapped, shackled, and nearly killed after his father refuses the ransom, while later chapters reveal Rocco’s call was doctored. How does that revelation reshape Elio’s resentment and his identity as the Reaper, and did it make his violence more understandable to you?
- 8.Elio stages his own capture to lure Stavros, then kills him after Stavros admits he faked the call from Elio’s father and reveals the trafficking operation. How does the Stavros confrontation tie together Elio’s personal revenge and his later decision to join Wolf’s rescue team?
Trust, Loyalty, and the Limits of Influence
- 9.Evie advises Isa to trust whether she feels safe with Elio, even though he is her captor. Was that good advice from Evie as a therapist and friend, or did it dangerously blur the line between safety and captivity?
- 10.When Mazzi bursts into Evie’s birthday dinner, Elio kills Mazzi and two guards but spares Fedele at Isa’s request. Did you agree with Isa stopping Elio from killing Fedele, and what does that moment reveal about the limits of her influence over Elio?
- 11.DiAngelo poses as Elio and the Reaper at the docks, lowering his collar to prove the police have the wrong man. How did that choice affect your view of DiAngelo and the brothers’ estrangement, especially after Elio later tells him, “I don’t blame you”?
Shared Purpose and Found Family
- 12.Isa discovers she is the primary benefactor of a private search-and-rescue operation against trafficking, while Elio says hunting a trafficking ring brought him back to the city. How does that shared cause connect their reunion and give Elio a moral direction after the Reaper’s violence?
- 13.Elio and Kairos raised Tessa after Stavros brought her onto the boat as leverage, and in the epilogue Tessa asks for her own place while Kairos considers selling the island for her gallery. How does that found family compare with Elio’s biological family reconciliation, and did Tessa’s independence feel earned?
The Romance and the Reckoning
- 14.The book ends with Elio proposing to Isa with a buttercup ring after thirty-three days back together, calling her his light in the storm. Did the ending feel satisfying after the kidnapping, drugging, and tattoo, or did the romance need more reckoning before Isa said yes?
