Mistletoe All the Way Book Club Questions

These questions assume everyone has finished the book and contain spoilers, including the ending.

This novel works well for book club because it mixes holiday charm with real questions about honesty, family loyalty, ambition, grief, and what home means. The romance gives readers plenty to swoon over, but the conflicts around the farm, publicity, and the Mr. Holiday contest also invite sharper opinions.

Use these questions however your group likes best: pick a few before meeting, assign different topics to different members, or start with the lighter holiday moments and work toward the tougher choices. There are no right answers here, just good chances to compare reactions.

Characters and Choices

  1. 1.Noah first meets Eloise by pretending to be Chris at Barney's and keeps up the twin game at the diner; why do you think he does it, and how does that choice shape Eloise's first impression and their later no-more-tricking deal after the Christmas market?
  2. 2.Gramps announces he and Grams are moving to San Diego and sets up a Christmas Eve pitch contest between Noah and Stephen. Was Noah's impulsive claim that he wants the farm believable, and how does Stephen's immediate volunteer speech frame the rivalry?
  3. 3.Eloise refuses her parents' offer to pay law school, loans, and rent if she joins the family firm, then later rejects Charles's country club job and loan payoff. What does this reveal about her motivation, and did you agree with her choice?
  4. 4.Noah tells Eloise his mother died on December 20 when he was sixteen and connects his dislike of Christmas to grief and commercialism. How does that backstory change your reading of his Grinch-like comments and his later thirst traps and tree decorating?

Publicity and Boundaries

  1. 5.Eloise builds the Cowboy Vet feed and stages photos to make Noah likable, while Noah says he does not want to have a brand. Where did the publicity campaign cross from helpful into inauthentic, and did the handmade-ornament moment at the cabin redeem it?
  2. 6.After the mistletoe kiss, Noah calls their attraction a distraction, but they continue working together. Did Eloise and Noah handle the publicist-client boundary responsibly, or were they bound to blur it?

Suspicion, Fair Play, and Legacy

  1. 7.Eloise and Noah suspect Stephen after seeing him photograph the horses, meeting Chad Tanner, visiting a tack shop, and asking about zoning Silver Bells for commercial hospitality. Were their surveillance and conclusions justified, or did they jump to conclusions before Gramps confronted Stephen?
  2. 8.Noah says he wants to win the farm fair and square on his merits even after Eloise uncovers evidence about Stephen's silent partner. Was that noble, or should he have used the evidence sooner with Gramps?
  3. 9.Noah's plan to expand Silver Bells into an animal sanctuary is meant to honor Gramps and his mother. Does that plan feel like a genuine continuation of the farm's legacy or a reinvention that changes what Gramps wanted?
  4. 10.Gramps ultimately chooses Noah after refusing Stephen's hotel investors' plan. Was Gramps's decision earned by Noah's actions, or did it come too easily after the confrontation with Stephen?

Romance, Resolutions, and Holiday Spirit

  1. 11.When Alonzo calls Noah back to the clinic, Noah leaves before Christmas Eve and the Mr. Holiday announcement, telling Eloise he is sorry. Did you agree with his decision to go, and how did Eloise's reaction shape your view of their romance?
  2. 12.Noah surprises Eloise on Christmas Eve by saying he is moving to run Silver Bells and be with her, instead of trying long distance. Did this ending feel satisfying, and did it resolve the concerns Eloise raised about impermanence?
  3. 13.The ending shows Henry Rojas running Mr. Holiday's, Joanne Pickleworth joining the friend group, Stephen working at the country club bar, and Eloise's PR firm expanded. Which of these resolutions felt earned, and which needed more page time?
  4. 14.The novel pits commercialized holiday cheer against genuine community spirit through the Mr. Holiday contest, Eloise's marketing, and Gramps's sleigh rides. Did the contest ultimately create real Christmas spirit in Evergreen Falls, or did it mostly manufacture it?
